@mrherban theres upselling in every business

The upselling part of bartending is very shady, and like he said, it’s very typical in high volume bars and night clubs. So if you’re not looking to spend $15 on a single drink, be sure to ask for the wells.

From experience, most people feel ripped off when the bartender upsells, and I definitely know that if they feel ripped off, they are not likely to tip well, if they decide to tip at all. So upselling makes your boss happy, but it doesn’t necessarily pay off in the long run.

This looks like a fun job. How long is the training? And what’s the hardest trick you have to learn? Also, what are the hardest customers?

Hey, collie- if you’re giving shit about upselling, and feel “bad” about it, you’re in the wrong biz. Upselling is the easiest and fastest way to make money

“it’s just that simple” . He gives good advice if you’re working the service well, otherwise, you-are-fucked!

That’s what I thought too. When he started talking about up-selling, I was like, hmm . . . seems pretty shady. It’s a bit unfair to the client.

You dont need to go to bartending school. I hear its alot of money but it isnt necessary. You could get a job as a bar back which is a bartenders assistant. This will give you experience in the field and thats how some ppl work their way up to a bartender.

Wow, upselling appears to be an incredibly dishonest practice.

Also, nice job holding all those beers against your body while removing the cap. Great way to get your sweat on the bottle and warm the beverage.

Love the memory system. Although for more involved cocktails obviously I would rather stick to a good recipe order rather then just adding the splashes to remember but great for busy bars that do basic cocktails.

memory system seems good. but my only question is: is there an easy way to then relate the drinks back to the customer? sure you can pour them easier, but then you still need to remember the individual person that ordered.

no critisisim, this system is good for pouring
