Bartender Resume Tip: This is a POWERFUL tactic used to show bartending experience when you have none!
Real quick, I want to share you a personal bartending story of mine that has a GREAT lesson you can take away:
This was quite a few years back when I was applying for my FIRST bartending job, and I faced the dreadful Bartender’s Catch 22!
What is the Bartender’s Catch-22?
Well, its’s simple: You must have experience to become a bartender, but HOW do you get experience if no one will hire you?!
Frustrating, right?! Well there is a loophole! (And no it is not spend 3 years as a server & barback hoping that your manager will one day promote you!)
Do you want the ANSWER to solving the Bartender’s Catch-22?!
Here it is..
When I applied for my FIRST bartending Job (which I landed!) it was because I listed all my OTHER work experience, but I added one more…
On the top of my Experience Section, it said:
“Freelance Bartender” OWNER of Pour Service Bartending.
MY manager was blown away! On my resume I had just demonstrated that I am the owner of my own Mobile Bartending Business where I work at private events sch as weddings and birthdays!
Not only do I have to bartend, but I have to market and manage an entire business!
That is the ONE reason I got the job…as she told me 6 months later!)
So how do YOU book Private Events?!
It is fun, easy and VERY Luctrative! You’ve probably never even thought about it before!
If you realized how many friends of friends of yours are having Halloween and Christmas parties, you could make a quick phone call or two and offer to work their event!
Since you may be new, you charge a small rate like $100.00 then throw out a tip jar!
An average party has $50 guests…would you pour a few drinks for 5 hours for $150-200?!
Then what’s stopping you?!
“Mobile Bartending” is easy and CHEAP to get started, but if you are looking for help, go here first: http://www.Bartend4Profit.com
